Speaking at Art Basel 2010, Massimo Bartolini explains the concept behind his popular installation, Organi 2007/8 in which he turned a scaffolding structure into an instrument controlled by an oversized music box roller. Fair Oasis
Lithuanian artist Zilvinas Kempinas created a stir at Art Basel 41 with his floating tape sculpture Oasis generating an odd calm in the busy fair. Kempinas has been fascinated by such delicate sculptures from an early age and was encouraged by his parents who didn't seem to mind his penchant for interior re-decorating. Simon Fujiwara's Spanish Fantasy
Baloise Prize winner Simon Fujiwara's piece Welcome to the Hotel Munber (2010) which showed in Art Statements at Art Basel, set the stage of the life of his parents during the Franco Era in Spain. With a backdrop of sexual oppression enforced by the dictator, Fujiwara creates an environment which is one minute comforting and the next, disturbing. Interview by Jean Wainwright
