Design Miami's 5th outing in Basel saw the fair brought even closer to the Messeplatz with the addition of a bridge allowing visitors to walk from Art Statements right into the arena. Ambra Medda and Craig Robins talk about the success of the fair and how design has ridden the storm of the global financial meltdown.

With 75 Galleries representing 23 countries and a new location a short tram ride from the Messeplatz in Basel, Scope has certainly grown since its first outing in 2002. The relaxed atmosphere of this satellite fair contrasted dramatically with that of Art Basel and provided collectors with the opportunity to view works by younger and alternative artists. With strengthening sales and an optimistic mood Art Basel 41 proved a success for co-directors Marc Spiegler and Annette Schönholzer. This year saw Art Parcours spreading the fair throughout the city of Basel and was popular with art lovers despite the rain. Interviews by Jean Wainwright.

This year's Art Basel fair saw a new arrival in the form of Art Parcours, an event which took place throughout the city of Basel with 10 artists showing works in 9 different locations with the intention of bringing art out of the Messeplatz and to the people. Annette Schönholzer and Felicity Lunn talk about this new element to the fair and we interview artists John Bock, Angela Bulloch and Martha Rosler who all displayed works.
