Francis Upritchard at the New Zealand Pavillion

Sculptor Francis Upritchard showed her work in the New Zealand Pavillion at the 2009 Venice Biennale.

Drawing facial expressions and body shapes from friends and family, Upritchard sought to create a selection of sculptures deliberately devoid of meaning, in stark contrast to the background of Venice's infamous sculptural history.
